GREAT DAYS OUT WITH KIDS
Yesterday we decided to do something different with the kids.
We took the train from San Isidro to Alicante (€4,75 return), then took the tram from Alicante to Benidorm (€5,70 return). These services are great and had I realised they were available I would certainly have taken advantage of them before!!
We went to Benidorm specifically to let the children have a go at waterskiing. This was fab - it was only €12 for an hour (although they did actually get longer as they were enjoying it so much !!) It was more difficult than they thought but they all managed to get up and do half the circuit which believe me was amazing to watch!! They didnt want to leave and we will definitely go back!! You are taken around on a cable rather than a boat (as seen on Benidorm on ITV recently!!). To get to the cableski platform you take a pedalo which has to be seen to be believed!! The set up is good, wetsuits and life jackets included, instruction included and if (when) you fall off a boat comes and picks you up unless you are close to the cableski platform. The only downside was that there was quite a few jellyfish around and at first this bothered the children however they soon got used to looking for them and swimming round them!!
It was a fab thing to do and the kids cant wait to go back. Maybe theyve found a career opportunity here!!
I didnt realise that you could take the train and tram to Benidorm - this sounds like a great day out and would be good for when we have visitors over.
Never done the San Isidro to Alicate train 'thing' nor the tram to Benidorm or other places it stops at so a huge thank you for posting details in Services with such excellent additional info/advice.
We are there next week & will look further into going to Alicante if not further.
Summer Rental
Hi, We have friends looking for a rental for 1 week at end of July / beg of August - 2 bedrooms - communal pool would be fine - would prefer something in Benijofar or walking distance to Benijofar.
Dancing for Children / Keep fir for Adults
I am looking for dance classes for my girls and wondered if anyone could make any recommendations? Also interested in a gym/keep fit classes for me and my wife! Can anyone recommend anywhere in the area?
I noticed that a dance studio has opened recently on the square in Benijofar (used to be the golf shop). Not sure what they offer but might be worth popping in.
There is a dance club for children at Howards Gym in Quesada (you can workout while they dance!!). I think its called Totally Dance.

The studio
Theres a new facility called the studio opened up beneath the quesada club next to the bowling green,this offers all types of dance and fitness including Zumba, and I think kick boxing or boxercise, theres also beauty treatments and all manner of well being opportunites there. They havent long been open and I think they welcome input from clients as to what activities they would actually like.
ALFIES DOCK
Hi all
Just wanted to let you know about a fun experience we've had recently at La Mata. On Wednesdays (market day) and at the end of the market (beach front) there is a hotel. On the outside patio of the hotel "Alfies dock" is located. This consists of un upturned boat grilling sardines and large gambas. along with this there is a guy playing keyboard, singing and entertaining, he provides something for every nationality and its a great atmosphere. It gets very busy and if your there after 11.30 am your unlikely to get a seat. The hotel also offers a varied menu but the fresh fish from "Alfies dock" seems very popular. We've been twice and had a great time. Might be something you want to try yourself or direct your guests to. Have fun !!!!

VILLA ROYAL - PROPERTY CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE SERVICE

I wanted to let you know about this terrific service. We are currently using this family run service and they have been a god send on many levels including cleaning - laundry - emergency contact - key holding - building works - pool maintenance - grocery shopping, infact just about everything we could need for ourselves and our guests (as non resident property owners on Quesada). They have given us so much peace of mind and nothing is too much trouble for them. They don't do this for bit of pocket money hence they are very reliable.
English and Spanish speaking they have even helped us with telephone installation, T.V Electricity account, you name it.
I have been a property owner/renter on Quesada for 7 years now so I have a lot of experience in the pitfalls of villa management for the non resident.
Worth their weight in gold this family and reasonably priced, I highly recommend their service especially if your sick of being ripped off by the not so reliable services

Tapas
I am sure everyone knows about this place but just in case....we went to Bar Sonia yesterday for tapas and it was delicious!! We sat outside which is nice apart from the passing traffic which at times seems to be travelling very fast and makes the awning shake somewhat. We chose from the menu (which is in English if required) - we had boquerones (little pickled fish), saquitos (parcels of prawn, veg or cheese), chorizo sausage, pork in tomato (so tender!), patatas bravas, salad and bread with alioli and tomato....we like a selection and then we all dip in!! The price was reasonable, the drinks cheap and the staff very friendly. Definitely a place to go again.
I know this Bar well!! It is on the main road through Benijofar on the left just past the Citreon garage (as you drive from Quesada). It has an awning outside. Yummy tapas, nice atmostphere and nice, friendly staff. I would recommend it also.

When members say 'the price was reasonable, drinks cheap' what do you call 'reasonable & cheap'? From experience I know some would say somewhere is reasonable & my husband & I would look at each other thinking 'HOW MUCH?????' though I'm sure tapas won't break the bank whatever the price. :-)

We watched the Barcelona/Madrid game here last week. There were 6 of us and we had 1 x pizza, 2 x meals, 2 x bocadillos, 4 x tapas dishes, bread and allioli, and around 2/3 drinks each and the bill was 45€. The bocadillos are excellent value at between 2,50 and 3,00 each - my girls had chicken, bacon and mayo in theirs. For the meals one of us had pork chops and I had chorizo and bacon - both served with chips and eggs!! I think mine was 3,50 and the other was 4,50. We were pleased with the bill and I too would say the prices are reasonable!!
