I have a BIG ask for everyone near me here in Spain....As you all know my Shop Cathy's Curiosity Corner helps the Elche Orphans by Donating moneys from Bric a brac and some Pieces of Furniture i sell to the Elche Orphanange. Well i have decided this year i am going to make part of the shop Into SANTA'S GROTTO, it will start on November the 16th at 3pm and will be on every Fri and Saturday between 3pm and 6pm up untill 21st Dec then it will be Mon and Tues 23rd and 24th December from 2pm till 5pm incl Christmas Eve...All Visitors to the Grotto will pay 3euros and see Santa and receive a Gift and all monies will go to the Orphans....This is where i am begging for your help and kindness...I need Toys to give to the Visiting Boys and Girls from age 1 up to 10 so if you could drop of anything that we could use i Will Wish you a Blessed Christmas as will all who Benifit from your Kindness...I also need Xmas Decorations BIG ONES...Pls find it in your Hearts to help....Also if you have any Dried or Tinned foods that we can give to the Poor Families in Benijofar then my Christmas Dream to help as many People less fortunate than Ourselves will Come True....Please Help....xxxx

FROM THE UK - International Cliff Richard tribute with Elvis 2000 tour

Cliff or Elvis - The Sequel!!

Those of us that have grown into "mature kids" will remember the days of the 50s and 60s when the rivalry and banter between Elvis and Cliff fans was commonplace (especially amongst the girls)!

Well, after two year of sell out shows on the Costa Blanca tours, the Cliff & Elvis spectacular is back and even more fun than before!! This fantastic show will tour eight venues in early June and will star two outstanding tribute artists who will simply amaze you! Cliff-asif is without doubt the Worlds best known Cliff tribute. He looks like, sounds like and banters like Sir Cliff himself and having met the "real English answer to Elvis" was told by him "It's nice to meet me"!!!!!! That's how close they are when Cliff himself makes such a statement!

The co-star of this tour is the Costa Blanca's Coastrider Music Awards winner in 2012 and finalist in the 2013 finals on May 13th, Elvis 2000. Peter Day's fabulous portrayal of The King has earned him the top accolade and Elvis fan's will certainly love his show as it is so lifelike vocally and in presentation.

This tour will also feature the 50s side of Jukebox Legends very own Fiona McLean who will be singing the songs of Connie Francis, Brenda Lee and others from that era! These three stars have featured in this tour many times and are, without doubt, the best combination you will see together so, now is the time to get your tickets booked at your chosen venue because if 2013 is like other years, every venue will sell out fast!!

ART COMPETITION: 'All Things Spanish" in aid of Elche Children's Home

Could all of you that are artistic, or know of anyone who enjoys painting, drawing or photograph consider entering into the art competition which is an annual event held at Casa La Pedrera, The Grand Design House. Closing date is just around the corner which is Saturday, 8th of May. Entries can be dropped off at the Coastrider Newspaper Offices and the Tea Garden at the Grand Design House. All for a good cause of course!!

We have gone to a lot of effort to get local artists work out there as there is so much talent here on the Costa Blanca Firstly, there is the exhibition which runs from Monday 13 - Monday the 20th where all work entered plus work by local artists will be displayed. The judges are also local artists: Suzanne Stokes and Helen Layfield.

Secondly the public can get involved in the judging process by being able to nominate the 'publics favourite, plus also there will be an online favourite, if people find it difficult to get up to the house.

Apart from the prize pot which adds up to 100 euros, both the winner and the public favourite will be presented with photograph of their winning entry, printed onto a computer mouse pad, which is a bit of fun, but something a bit different.

Throughout the week long exhibition there will be craft demonstrations daily , ie soap making and floral displays as well as an art demonstration by one of the judges, Suzanne Stokes and entertainment in the form of some flamenco dancing and live music.
